Bio:Dr. Carly Kelley is a WPATH certified Endocrinologist, Associate Professor of Medicine, and Medical Director at Duke University. She practices general endocrinology, caring for adults with a wide range of hormonal disorders, with a focus on thyroid disorders, sex hormones, and gender affirming care. As Director of the Duke Adult Gender Medicine clinic and medical lead for Duke’s gender care program, she prescribes gender-affirming hormone therapy and leads a multidisciplinary team, assisting patients in accessing gender-affirming care throughout the institution and local community. Now a leading expert in transgender care at Duke, she frequently gives grand rounds, trainings, and lectures to educate physicians, staff, students, and trainees, both within and outside the institution. By enhancing awareness and knowledge about transgender-specific care among health-care providers, she hopes to improve access to healthcare and reduce barriers that cause transgender health inequities. Additionally, having recognized the need to expand the evidence-base to inform transgender clinical care, she and her research team have established the Duke Research for Equitable Access to Medicine (DREAM) registry with the goal of future collaborative multi-center cohort studies on transgender and gender diverse health in the United States. They are currently funded by the PCORI Eugene Washington Engagement Award to establish a list of research priorities for gender affirming hormone therapy in collaboration with local community members, patients, and the DREAM Coalition.
